The Final Year

Although I don’t have clarity with regard to when release from prison will come for me, I am confident that it will come within the next 12 months, before Halloween of 2012. With that date in mind, I must hone my final preparations for the challenges that I will confront after more than a quarter century in federal prison.

In this section, I have asked my wife to publish specific, deliberate steps that I am taking to show readers focused efforts I make to prepare for a law-abiding, contributing life. I precede each entry with a paragraph that describes the purpose behind the individual effort, and then publish the effort itself. It’s important for me to provide full transparency, and I’ll provide a reason for that transparency as well.

Many people may disagree with my commitment to transparency. But I am determined to live my life as an open book. I want others to know the reasons behind my decisions, and to know that I am 100 percent committed to the preparations I make for release.

I have your books ery interesting and convince me our prison system is a total failure in preparing inmates for return to society.

    Hi Michael and Carole,
I truly hope that Michael is released this year!
    Praying for you both.
If you’re ever in San Diego, come by our restaurant for a nice dinner on us :-)

I read your book ‘Inside’ in 2008, a few months after attempting sucide. I was a mortgage broker and had lost lots of money and had lots of free time. Your book really inspired me. I am now a devout buddhist practicioner living and working at a Dharma Center. My prayers are with you, I’m rooting for you, and I hope your example of human achievment inspires others to see the great beauty and value life has to offer. You inspire me.
