Yesterday my beautiful wife Carole relayed a message from my literary agent Jim Schiavone.  Jim told Carole to tell me that he was enthusiastic about representing Earning Freedom, and that he thought the proposal and sample chapters were excellent.  Before submitting the manuscript to publishers, however, Jim asked for a second chapter. 

I finished a draft of the second chapter awhile ago, but Carole’s schedule has been too busy to type it. I woke at 1:30 this morning to resume work on the third chapter and by the early afternoon I completed the first draft of chapter three.  Thus I’ve now written two additional chapters, but I must wait to receive the typed pages from Carole to edit.  My hopes are to send Jim two additional chapters by early August.  I know he only expects one more chapter, but I am in the habit of exceeding expectations.

Besides a very busy writing day (I wrote through Page 149 of the manuscript) I also interviewed David, a relatively new prisoner at Taft Camp who grew up in Israel but now makes his home and business in Los Angeles. Carole and I met David’s wife Judy and their children in the visiting room, and I look forward to writing about what I learned from him. 

I ran 10 miles this morning, boosting my running tally up to 1,820 miles over the past 206 days.  My responsibility of finishing chapter three necessitated that I suspend my push ups for today, and possibly tomorrow, as I received a lengthy letter from a legal team in today’s mail that will require several hours of work from me tomorrow morning.
