Although I’ve had a presence on the Internet since 1996, I still have not had the privilege of accessing the Web directly. I read about the power of social networks and how easy it is for people to build a strong voice using a combination of websites, blogs and networking services like Facebook and Twitter, but until I come home, my limitations block me from reaching my full potential on the Web. I look forward to the day when I’ll have my own keyboard and Internet access, as I intend to communicate with millions of people.
Perhaps “communicate” isn’t accurate as “connect” or “inform”. I intend to share with the world what it will be like to re-enter into society after so many years in prison. I’m not a fan of long-term imprisonment for non-violent offenders and I’m convinced we can advance our society by changing the way we measure justice. Rather than simply waiting for calendar pages to turn, we should support a system that requires offenders to work toward earning freedom through merit and reconciliation with society. I’ll rely upon the Internet and social networking to spread this message.
As I’ve mentioned previously, I remain in this state of limbo while I await news from the publishing house that is reviewing Earning Freedom. Until I have some resolution on that manuscript project, I’m not going to begin anything new. I’m reading and thinking and contemplating the schedule that will drive me through the year 2010. This is a recharging time for me, but I’m eager to resume my measurable progress.
This morning, I ran 10 miles and I followed the run with 350 pushups. I’m calm and at ease as I await news that will have an influence on my future.
