Menu for Atwater Federal Prison Camp

Tuesday, November 8, 2011

Breakfast:

For the breakfast meal today, workers in the chow hall served oatmeal and pancakes. The kitchen worker on the line offers a big ladle of oatmeal, but the ration for pancakes is only two. They are small pancakes, about the size of a CD. Since only about 125 prisoners are assigned to the Atwater camp (only about half of whom eat breakfast) there doesn’t seem to be a shortage of food for prisoners who want extra helpings. I missed breakfast, as I was on the track. There was coffee and milk available, I was told.

Lunch:

Tuesdays are predictable for lunch at Atwater Camp, as are Wednesdays and Thursdays. We had chicken. Today’s chicken entree was baked. Each prisoner recceived a large portion of leg and thigh. On the hot bar nearby  were pinto beans and white rice. I left the chow hall with a full stomach.

Dinner:

For dinner this evening the entree was tuna fish, served with two slices of wheat bread. One of the kitchen workers was kind enough to toast my bread for me. I also ate white rice and pinto beans with the tuna. And I appreciated a serving of iceburg lettuce that was available, too.
