Publishing
Inside: Life Behind Bars in America (St. Martin’s Press, 2006) was written for a general, non-fiction audience. Inside provides a graphic description of confinement as it illustrates the cycle of failure prevalent in American prisons as they exist today. Inside was critically acclaimed, and received favorable reviews in The Los Angeles Times Book Review, The New York Times Book Review, and other international publications. In addition to the general audience, Inside is used internationally by professors who teach on the subject of the American prison system.
About Prison (Wadsworth Publishing, 2003) describes a prisoner’s perspective of confinement. This book is used as a supplemental text by law enforcement professionals, and by university and college professors who teach criminal justice, psychology, sociology, and anthropology. The publisher has distributed more than 10,000 copies of About Prison.
Profiles From Prison (Greenwood/Praeger Publishing, 2003) describes the adjustment patterns of 20 different prisoners serving sentences of varying lengths. The publisher has distributed more than 1,000 copies of this book to law-enforcement professionals and universities across America.
