February 2012 Values and Goals

My commitment to leading a values-based, goal-oriented life continues.  To that end, I offer the value categories by which I profess to live and the specific goals within each value category that I expect to achieve during the month of February, 2012.

Discipline:

Discipline is an essential component of my strategy to prepare for my return to society after more than a quarter century in prison.  I am defining discipline by the deliberate steps that I take every day to prepare for success upon release.  I intend to begin my work every day of the month before 3:30 each morning.  The early hours I keep enable me to concentrate while avoiding the noise and distractions of imprisonment.  I will exercise every day of the month, taking measurable steps toward reaching the specific goals that I set.  I will finish writing a new manuscript on strategies for wealth creation that I am partnering on with a friend and will market upon my release.  I will update my website everyday to chronicle my progress that I’m making.  I will read the Biblical Book of Acts and when I finish, I will begin reading the Book of Romans.  I will minimize my exposure to potential problems in prison by lying down to sleep each day before 6:30 in the evening.

Fitness:

During the 29 days of February I will run more than 300 miles and complete at least one marathon distance.  I will do more than 10,000 pushups during the month.

Godliness:

I have felt God protecting and guiding me through every day of my lengthy prison journey. Throughout each day during the month of February, I will thank God for the blessings my family and I receive and I will pray for further guidance to make the most of life.  During the month of February I will read passages from the New Testament each day before sleeping.

Industriousness:

During the month of February I intend to ghost write a short manuscript about strategies for wealth creation.  I am partnering on this project with a friend and look forward to marketing the book upon my release.  Further, I will continue to document my journey with daily updates to my website.

Integrity:

I continue to define integrity as keeping everything I think, everything I say, and everything I do in harmony.  To that end, I will lead a transparent life and strive to inspire other federal prisoners around me to lead values-based, goal-oriented lives.

Marriage:

Since Carole is the center of my life, I must work every day to prove worthy of the love that she gives to me.  To that end I reserve all of my allotted phone minutes so that I can speak with her each day.  Each day I write to Carole with a commitment to show her the ways that I am preparing for the life we will build together.  I chart the course for our family ahead and use accountability tools with Carole to ensure that we’re working together as a unified team with a commitment toward building upon the blessings of our love and romance.

Support Network:

Proving worthy of the many people who support me and have a vested interest in my success upon release continues to influence every day of my life.  Every day during the month of February, I will sleep and wake early in a deliberate effort to minimize my exposure to problems in prison.  Also, I will document every day that I serve through entries on my website so that others will see how seriously I take my responsibility of leading a values-based, goal-oriented life and preparing for success upon release.
